Dream Weavers: Todays Kudos & Encouragement (Mon 4-13-15)

Good Morning Dream Weavers,

Throughout our lives we must continually assess whether we are letting our fear of failure or losing face keep us from taking the actions, and engaging in the conversations, that will move us forward and make the impact we want.  Again and again, we have to decide: Do I keep doing what’s always been done, or challenge old assumptions and try new approaches to problems? Do I proactively seek new challenges or just manage those I already have? Do I risk being exposed and vulnerable, or act to protect my pride and patch of power?

Of course, being willing to take a risk doesn’t mean everything you try will work out.  But as every successful person will tell us, it’s only by being willing to make mistakes and try something new that we can ever accomplish more than what’s been done before.  As John F. Kennedy once said, “Nothing worthwhile has ever been accomplished with a guarantee of success.” Nothing ever will be.

We drive down the road between appointments, and our mind imagines a life where we are consistently exceeding 100K per month, then our mind starts to come up with ideas on how we can achieve this goal. Problem is, we don’t go after those ideas. Instead, we just sit back in our easy rocking chair of company generated leads, and hope for the best. Hope is awesome, but action is required too. Here is a  paragraph from a letter written by a motivational speaker (paraphrased to meet our needs)

Dear friends, do you think you’ll get anywhere in this business if you learn all the right words but never do anything? Does merely talking about flooring indicate that a person really sells or wants it? For instance, you come upon an old friend with trashed flooring and say, “Good morning, friend! Looks like you need new carpet or flooring!” and walk off without providing so much as a ballpark cost or quote - where does that get you? Isn’t it obvious that flooring talk without follow through is outrageous nonsense?

"Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt." - William Shakespeare
