Masters of Repetition: Todays Kudos & Encouragement (Thurs 4-30-15)

Good Morning Masters of Repetition,

So it’s the last day of April. We closed out all the install time slots again!!  Good job everyone!!
As we focus, moving forward to fill up May’s book of business, let’s remember to make the time to follow up with recent installs, send thank you cards, emails and/or phone calls to our 1, 6 & 12 month install people (those 6 & 12 month customers are GOLD).

How do we acquire a skill, hone it, develop it and make it our own? From riding a bicycle to learning to drive to building a stronger business, what is the one constant variable? Repetition.

Repetition, doing the same thing again, and again, and again. It may only take a few weeks to master some skills, while others could take a lifetime. It is true that for a few lucky souls, the innate genius they are born with allows them to master a talent far quicker than their counterparts. Mozart wrote his first symphony at age 8. For goodness sakes, Bo Jackson played for a professional football AND baseball team, and he was named an All-Star in both! Rich Froning is 26 years old, and he’s already won three CrossFit Games championships.

The rest of us, however, are not prodigies. We may never accomplish the feats that so many legends of the arts have done, but we do aspire to achieve our own feats of greatness by maximizing our potential. In order to do that, we have to practice. We have to get the reps in.
Figure out how good we want our business to be, what we have to do to achieve it, then START doing that daily!!!

Smarty Pants: Todays Kudos & Encouragement (Weds 4-29-15)

Good Morning Smarty Pants,

Selling smarter – not harder.
When we show up to an appointment, we are there for 1-2 hours. They are getting our best & focused attention. When we listen to our customers wants/needs, we are able to put a picture together in our head of what they need, but we can also see what they want. At that time we can start our cross sale conditioning, giving the customer time to think and dream. Also, selling smarter can include selling our promotional items AND cross selling our “bonus” items. Always be mindful of those bonus items. It is amazing how much they add up over the course of a month or year!!

Reputation Management: Todays Kudos & Encouragement (Mon. 4-27-15)

Good Morning Reputation Managers,

Every so often it is nice to see Empire Today’s name in the spotlight, because this is the company we represent. Just recently there were 2 AWESOME articles (news coverage) that show how we stand out. I am posting them today so we can benefit from the “Pride of Ownership” that we receive working with this company. We don’t have to bash other companies, we don’t have to point out L.L.’s issues or Carpet Ex’s horrible measuring & seaming practices, we can stand SOLELY on our record and reputation.

In the first, there was a scam in Tx by a guy using a name similar to ours – when Empire found out about it – WATCH EMPIRE’S RESPONSE.

In another unrelated, yet absolutely related story, Empire continues to show it’s true colors. The 2015 BBB Business Ethics Awards were evaluated based on the following criteria:
    Leadership Commitment to Ethical Practices
    Communications of Ethical Practices
    Organizational Commitment of Ethical Practice
Organizational Commitment of Performance Management Practices
Organizational Commitment to Ethical Human Resource Practices
    Organizational Commitment to the Community

Value Minded: Todays Kudos & Encouragement (Sat 4-25-15)

Good Morning Value Minded Friends,

I am always so encouraged to see that the big sales happen every day.

Sometimes when I pull in a massive 3fer day and they all topped the charts at $777 each, I do some quick math and realize I only need 128 of those per month to hit my $100K. But then I run into the brick wall of how to generate 128 of them? Thank God our business model is not always a $777 product!! Just in the short time since our pricing model has changed, we are seeing higher average ticket sales AND higher sales percentages. That’s a little counter-intuitive if we are stuck in the “cheaper” mindset. Let’s see what we can do to pull our minds out of the “cheap” mire and set our minds on “quality” and “value”.

Sometimes we need to remind the customer that flooring is the 2nd largest value addition to the home. And not just money value, but perception and feeling good about their home. This truly is an investment in their minds, hearts and pocketbook. I was reminded of this recently when I was showing my wife some Ponce, Townsend and then some Greenwich. I was focused on my pocketbook, she was focused on her “home”. She pointed out to ME that the $$ difference from one to the next was truly minimal compared to the value of the carpets. We can do the same. Let’s not focus on TOTAL cost, but instead look at the difference between good, better & best. Now all of a sudden it is not a $6k vs. $7.5k investment, it’s only a $1500 decision … see what we did there?  (BTW: looks like we are getting Greenwich)
