COMMIT OR BE COMMITED!
The inescapable truth is that to be truly
great at anything, we must devote ourselves completely. Eliminate any and all
other options, learn everything about flooring, become a fanatic, 100 percent
absorbed, all in, a Super Freak! Stop
questioning and get in all the way. Committing is as simple as picking a place
to park our car. Find a spot, pull in, and get out of the car. We don’t keep
looking for another space in which to park. Commit and be done with it.
When we make a firm decision, we
quit wondering, and then we follow through on our commitment with actions.
Remember, while
there may be greener pastures, they’re green because someone committed.
Weeds grow in every field, and if we don’t commit all the way, we’ll neglect
it. When we neglect it, we’ll start to dislike it, and then we’ll start peering
over the neighbor’s fence and thinking that what he has is better. It’s only better because he committed.
So let’s commit to our career, our
business, commit to learning about selling, and commit to our products,
service, and company. Commit to learning everything we can and watch how much
green our career will produce for us. Regardless of how long we have been doing
this, if we’re losing more than we’re winning, then we need to realize we’re an
amateur and it’s
time to kick up our commitment a notch and
become someone who knows what he’s doing!
We say, “Man, you’re being harsh on
me! I’m just going through a cold spell right now.” Wrong! We’re making excuses; the reality is
our cold spell is due to our own lack of understanding of our profession. We’ve
been sliding by on amateur skills, and those skills are showing up in our
results. Anyone can sell when everyone is buying the product, but when there’s
competition and the economy tightens, amateurs start crying and professionals
continue to prosper.
