Thinkers: Todays Kudos & Encouragement (Tues 6-30-15)

Good Morning Thinkers,

I find the power of the mind interesting.  Todays little tidbit is a bit tongue in cheek, but the point is made, what we think, how we think really does affect our outcomes in life.

Think Yourself Strong
You may not need to actually go to the gym to get the benefits of a gym workout. Just imagining yourself there may do the job. Dave Smith, a sports psychology researcher at Manchester Metropolitan University in England, gathered 18 men and had six of them contract their pinkie fingers as hard as they could for 20 minutes a day, two times a week. Six others were instructed to just imagine themselves doing the exercises. And a third control group of six did nothing at all. After 30 days, the pinkies of the first group were 33 percent stronger. Those of the control group were unchanged. But the men who had visualized themselves doing the pinkie crunches actually increased their strength by 16 percent. - NATURAL HEALTH, MARCH 1999

Educators: Todays Kudos & Encouragement (Mon 7-29-15)

Good Morning Educators,

Choosing a product or service solely on price is generally a losing situation and people almost always end up paying more in the long run when price is the only factor.

The home improvement industry in which we operate is notorious for focusing solely on price. A customer will inevitably ask us for “the lowest price” on their flooring. Unfortunately, if we quit caring, the lowest price won’t include the add-ons that drive the price up. (Better underlayment, better pad, higher face weight, etc).  A lot of times, the final cost, with other contractors,  ends up being much more than the original bid,  and the buyer ends up paying a lot more.

Buyers who have preconceived ideas about what they want based solely upon price may not clearly understand the total cost or the best solutions available to them. To truly get the “best deal,” we must move beyond focusing solely on price and into the realm of customer value, factoring in price, quality, service and reputation. Doing this requires us to educate the customer.  By providing our goods and services at the “lowest true cost” we don‘t always provide real long-term value.

For our customers, it is in their best interest to buy from someone with knowledge and understanding about the products and the market, someone who offers the best long-term value, has their best interests at heart and will go the extra mile for them. That’s the true definition of customer value.

Believe this and submit it to memory – we will be thankful when we are in front of “that” customer.

" The bitterness of low quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten." - Benjamin Franklin

“There is hardly anything in the world that someone cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people who consider price only are this man’s lawful prey. It’s unwise to pay too little.” - John Ruskin

Baggage Checkers: Todays Kudos & Encouragement (Sat 6-27-15)

Good Morning Baggage Checkers,

Happy Saturday!! There are still some install slots available for Mon/Tues – fill em up!!

I recognize there is a theme to many of my K&E’s, but I can’t help it. When I sit to think about what is most important in our lives and in our business, there really is only 2 or 3 common core items that ALWAYS come back to me.  And so, with that said, just a quick reminder today … check any baggage or bad attitudes at the curb, live, laugh and love like they are the only things that matter, and most of all remember, you really are THE BEST.

Nothing in our life will pay us more rewards than our ability to have and maintain a great attitude. People will remember us not for how much money we made or for our success, but for how we handled life and made others feel. Our attitude and our ability to have a positive influence on the attitudes of others will affect not only our sales, but every area of our life: our marriage, kids, health, wealth and luck. You name it, and a great attitude will affect it.

You guys/gals produced some AMAZING numbers yesterday, and as I am sure Empire is thankful,
I am renewed every day with joy and excitement for each and every one of us. I have not grown to
Expect you all’s awesomeness, instead I am encouraged and filled with the hope that we continue
To be the very best version of ourselves that we can be.  Thank you one and all.

Self Talkers: Todays Kudos & Encouragement (Friday 6-26-15)

Good Morning Self Talkers,

Today is simply, but powerfully a reminder that we are “ALL THAT!!” – as an individual, a business owner, a teammate, spouse, friend, parent, etc.  Every so often our brains get electrocuted with the negativity of defeating thoughts. We have to take control of them, take charge (pun intended) of our internal dialogue; engage the linguistic nutrition of championship performance. Our self-talk is the foundation of our belief system and our belief system determines our attitudes about our success or lack of it in our business and our life. Our inner thoughts set us up for success.

We must practice presenting a positive attitude toward everyone we meet, not just prospective clients and customers. With that practice, we continually get better and better. We should constantly pat ourselves on the back with positive self-talk, such as, “I provide a valuable service to my clients” and “I help people achieve their dreams and goals.”

Developing optimistic expectations can be learned! Even if we are a chronic pessimist and our parents or spouse is a pessimistic thinker, we can absolutely learn ways to overcome the negative beliefs that underlie our pessimistic tendencies.  As I’ve said before, when we are always looking for the YES, we find it far more often than not.

The subconscious mind does not know the difference between what is real and what is imagined. So imagine your best possible self and you will start to act that way! – Dan Thompson
