Emotionally intelligent people won’t set perfection as their target because they know that it doesn’t exist. Human beings, by our very nature, are fallible. When perfection is our goal, we’re always left with a nagging sense of failure that makes us want to give up or reduce our effort, though some days we come really, really close to achieving. We end up spending our time lamenting what we failed to accomplish and what we should have done differently instead of moving forward, excited about what we've achieved and what we will accomplish in the future.
Now, that is not to say we rest in mediocrity. We are constantly evaluating, adjusting and growing as individuals and business owners. The EQ is a master at accepting the past, learning from it and pushing forward to make a better today and tomorrow. When the occasional mediocre day happens, we remember what works and pursue it again, refreshed and rejuvenated. We Maintain a Winners Mentality. When we are “in the zone” we just know and feel it. This is when we are closing everything. Great sales people know that if we have a bad streak, stay the course and it will break.
