Good Morning Empaths,
As a reminder, Decades of research now
point to emotional intelligence as being the critical factor that sets star performers apart from the rest of the pack. The
connection is so strong that 90% of top performers have high emotional
intelligence. And though we all might be rockin the higher IQ as well, this is
a wonderful reminder and encouragement.
We’re Curious about People
It doesn’t matter if we’re introverted or
extroverted, emotionally intelligent people are curious about everyone around
them. This curiosity is the product of empathy, one of the most significant
gateways to a high EQ. The more we care about other people and what they’re going through, the
more curiosity we’re going to have about them.
We Give and Expect Nothing in Return
When someone gives us something
spontaneously, without expecting anything in return, this leaves a powerful impression. For example, we might have an interesting conversation
with someone about a book, and when we see them again a month later, we show up
with the book in hand. Emotionally intelligent people build strong
relationships because we are constantly thinking about others. It is this spirit of giving and
caring that (some of) our customers can see, and it is what makes them buy from
us and refer us and come back for more projects. And YES, there is a way to “expect nothing in
return” while receiving business and referrals.
In Jake Ryan’s “7 Rules of Successful
Sales Career/Person” he mentions, Rely on Routine - Trust in your
game plan. Long term success from
consistency. I will expand a little. Let’s make sure our routine/game plan are those of winners.
With the “wrong” routine (not doing the 10 steps, no follow up, etc) we do not
become successful.
"We
cannot live for ourselves alone. Our lives are connected by a thousand
invisible threads, and along these sympathetic fibers, our actions run as
causes and return to us as results." - Henry
